Get Covered Illinois was created to help connect Illinoisians to the health insurance coverage that best meets their needs and circumstances, regardless of what types of coverage they qualify for or how they apply. With Get Covered Illinois, this connected approach will lead you to the optimal solution. You can apply whether or not you qualify for Medical Assistance (Medicaid & or All Kids) with one of two options:
Option One: Illinoisians who are interested in applying for Medicaid but are not sure if they qualify can go to hfs.illinois.gov/medicalclients to review basic eligibility information and learn about different Medical Assistance programs in Illinois and how to apply.
Individuals may choose to apply for healthcare coverage through the Illinois Medicaid website. If the individual is determined ineligible for Medicaid or All Kids, their information will be transferred to Get Covered Illinois.
Option Two: Should you prefer to start off with Get Covered Illinois because your account was transferred with an access code from Healthcare.gov, but believe due to a change in your circumstances that you may now be eligible for Medicaid or All Kids, you can apply for health insurance coverage at www.GetCovered.Illinois.gov.
Individuals applying for healthcare coverage through Get Covered Illinois who are assessed as potentially eligible for Medicaid or All Kids by Get Covered Illinois will have their application transferred to the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) for a Medicaid eligibility determination.
