A free look period is a required period of time under state law in which a customer can cancel their coverage without penalties or charges following the start of coverage. If a customer has not made any claims against the policy and is not satisfied with the terms and conditions of their policy they have purchased, they can cancel the policy within 10 days of the coverage start date and any premiums paid will be refunded.
Customers who wish to initiate a free look cancellation must make this request to the Get Covered Illinois Customer Assistance Center prior to the expiration of their free look period.
