Medicaid is a health program that provides health coverage at no-cost to people with disabilities, the elderly, pregnant women, children and families as well as childless adults whose household income is below a certain threshold, and who meet other eligibility requirements. Illinois has expanded its Medicaid program to ensure that Illinoisans with income below 138% of the federal poverty level (FPL) have access to Medicaid.
There is no limited enrollment period for Medicaid, and you can apply anytime through the Illinois Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) in person, by mail or online at ABE (Application for Benefits Eligibility).
